Map Commander – Privacy Policy (version 1.0, 16 October 2026)
Publisher: ruicodex (contact: info@ruicodex.com)
1. What Map Commander stores
Your favourite places, recent destinations and settings are stored only on this phone (and, if you use Android backup, in your encrypted device backup). Map Commander has no user accounts and no server of its own. The watch app stores a copy of your favourite names and settings on the watch.
2. What is sent to whom, and when
- Google (Google Maps app, Google Maps Platform): when you start navigation, the destination is handed to the Google Maps app, or – in "Live navigation" mode – the destination and your device location are processed by the Google Navigation SDK. When "Map on the watch" is on, your approximate position, the route and the destination are sent to the Google Maps Static API to draw the map image. Google's privacy policy applies: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- Address search uses the phone's built-in geocoding service (on most phones provided by Google).
- Voice commands: speech is recognised by the speech service of your phone (usually Google). Map Commander receives only the recognised text, does not record audio and does not store the text.
- Huawei (Huawei Health / Wear Engine): messages between phone and watch (destination names, navigation instructions, map images) are transferred through Huawei Health over Bluetooth. Huawei's privacy statement applies.
- Google Play (Pro subscription, Android only): payments are processed entirely by Google Play. Map Commander only asks Google Play on the device whether a subscription is active and counts live navigations per month on the device; it never receives payment data.
Map Commander itself does not send data to any other party, contains no advertising and no analytics.
3. Permissions
- Location: only to navigate and to centre the watch map, never in the background when no navigation is running.
- Notifications: to let you confirm requests from the watch and to show navigation status.
- Network: to talk to Google services.
- Connected device service (optional): keeps the watch connection alive when you enable it.
4. Retention and deletion
Recent destinations are limited to the last 10 and can be cleared in the app. Uninstalling the app removes all its data from the phone; uninstalling the watch app removes its data from the watch. Map images sent to the watch are deleted when navigation ends.
5. Children
Map Commander is not directed at children under 13.
6. Your rights
Because Map Commander does not collect personal data on its own servers, there is nothing for us to export or delete. For data processed by Google or Huawei, contact them directly. Questions: info@ruicodex.com
7. Changes
We will update this policy in the app and on the store listing when features change.
iPhone version
- The iPhone app does not connect to the watch, sends no data to Huawei and sells no subscription.
- Speech is recognised on the device when supported, otherwise by Apple's speech service.
- Address search uses Apple MapKit.
